Report Ranks Major U.S. Cities On Solar Capacity

Over the past six years, solar energy capacity has more than doubled in 45 of America’s 57 largest cities, according to a new study released by Environment America Research & Policy Center. The report, “Shining Cities 2019: The Top U.S. Cities for Solar Energy,” is the sixth annual edition of the group’s survey of installed solar PV capacity in major U.S. cities. Along with the vast majority of cities that showed marked growth in solar capacity, a select group made even greater strides in going solar between 2013 and 2018, the report finds. One-third of the cities surveyed in all of the report’s editions more than quadrupled their installed solar PV capacity over that period.Read More


Zillow: U.S. Homes With Solar Sell For 4.1% More

A new Zillow analysis shows that homes with solar energy systems sold for 4.1% more, on average, than others nationwide in the past year.

The sale premium varies by market: e.g., 5.4% in New York, 4.4% in San Francisco and 3.6% in Los Angeles. Zillow based its report on homes sold between March 1, 2018, and Feb. 28, 2019, that included any variants of the following words in the listing description: solar panel, solar collector, solar cell, solar battery, solar energy, solar power, solar electricity, photovoltaic, PV panel, and PV system.Read More
